Here's a tray full of old flatware (mostly knives) with mother-of-pearl handles. The handles are in very fine condition. The blades are pretty good, too, but variable in their finish, as you can see. The ferrules differ across the groupings and are marked STERLING. There are 18 pieces in all. From left to right in the first photo, you'll get: Six 8 3/4” round-tipped knives, marked on the blades: MERIDEN CUTLERY CO. / 1855 / 12 Five 5 3/4” saber-shaped knives with 3 hallmarks and a “12” stamped on the blades (At top) A knife-and-fork carving set, 6 1/2” knife, 7 1/2” fork, marked UNIVERSAL / [obscure] on the knife Two 6 1/2” knives, marked LANDER, FRARY & CLARK / AETNA WORKS on the blades A big ladle, 6 3/4” long, 2 5/8” wide on the fancily embossed bowl, unmarked except for a “12” A large knife-and-fork carving set, 7 3/4” fork, 10” elaborately engraved, saber-shaped knife.
